Charity Association “Panonija” was born in Novi Sad on 27th January 1994 as a civil initiative with the mission develop of civil society in area Vojvodina. In achieving this objective, key words of our organization are already well known and accepted: Identification, Stimulation, Provocation… of ideas, people, and environment. Therefore, we claim: here, we are opening the Gate of Europe and building the European home of tolerance and democracy.
Signing of the contract for the work on the Family Club Program, 1995, was the beginning of new and stronger creative work. “Family Club” was the basis of future “Open Club”. Since then, we performed the programs of humanitarian support, psycho-social programs, psychological workshops, creative workshops… fulfilling the needs of citizens. The “Open Club” presented many projects to “Panonija” and Novi Sad.
With the projects “Open Circle 98” and “Open Circle 99 – from the Other Side of the River” we achieved a great success. Following this idea, we started the realization of the Vojvodina project “Geotakt” 2000. We started to work in 9 towns, and we finished it in 15 towns in Vojvodina. This project gathered around 100 non-governmental o5rganisations, dozens of hard working people, it motivated and stimulated more than 100 000 citizens of Vojvodina.
We did the program of the motivation of the young for the future called “Stop and Think”, the regional campaign for elections, NGO Conference in Vojvodina, when for the first time, 120 NGO from Vojvodina Gathered then, we implemented big multimedia action in Kulpin called “Levels of Existing Reality”.
During last five years “Panonija” realized: Twining Project for European Council, project “One Step Further”, project “ NGO – A Citizen for It self”. We were a part of the network of Human Rights Campaign, and since 2001. “Panonija” was honored and assumed the responsibility to be Regional Centre for the Development of Non-profit Centre of Vojvodina. During 2002. “Panonija” was regional coordinator of the development Campaign “Towards Europe” in Vojvodina. We realized the follow-up of the work on the “Geotakt 2” project, the mission of which is further development of civil society in Vojvodina, also many of seminars about Culture of Dialog, regional co-operation in Euro region DKMT, common project with Secretariat of Education of Vojvodina “Education of Tolerance or Learn together – Live together”, “Challenges of education on minority languages”. Currently, “Panonija” is coordinator within a large development and educational project called “Multiplication – Living in Tolerance”, realized in territory of Vojvodina with support of Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation from Switzerland.
